If I were to assign a colour to the month of April it would be blue.
Bluebells, forget me nots, hyacinths and muscari make this the blue month. These blue flowers pair especially well with spring green, sunshine yellow (daffodils) but equally with more subtle palettes of pastels and white.
Blue was the colour of choice for my first two weddings this month, that of Linzi and Jamie, Kate and Ashley.
An eclectic mix of flowers including lots of delphiniums which whilst not technically in season, added a range of blue from subtle powder shades in the bouquets to more potent azure and saphire shades in the table centres.
My flower of the week? This has to be Spirea - lots and lots of it arrived for Kate and Ashley's wedding this week and I am really making the most of its fleeting appearance in my schemes. To this I'd also include the lovely Scilla or bluebell to you and me.
It is quite literally, "hello and goodbye"inside three weeks for these two flowers - both are to be cherished for both their beauty and brevity.
